About Me

My name is Roulien Stahnke, I'm a 40-something child of God, wife for 26 years to the most amazing man, Herman!  We have 2 beautiful children, Monique and Ruan and a son-in-law, Brian.  On January 1, 2012 we became the proud grandparents of  the most adorable little grandson, Llewellyn, and in July 2014, baby Kate joined our tribe.

We were blessed to see a little bit of the world through my hubbies work and lived for 1 year in South-Korea and in total has now been 6 years in Saudi Arabia.

I started scrapbooking in 2009 after we re-located from South Africa to Saudi Arabia.  The lifestyle in Saudi Arabia was just so different than what I was used to, with loads of idle time on my hands.  A South African lady was holding crops at her house in one of the compounds, which I started to attend in early 2009.  I was instantly hooked on this craft!  I always loved photographs and the story they tell, but for me, scrapbooking gave a whole new way of telling a story through photographs.  Since we could only find one store in Saudi Arabia selling a little bit of scrapping supplies, I turned to the wonderful world of on-line shopping to get my hands on new products.  The word "paper addict" started to have new meaning to me.  I love it when the postman knocks on my door with a parcel . . . I slowly take each item from the box and drool over them!!  My hubby always laughs at me when I start smelling the paper and stroking it lovingly to feel the texture . . . Yes, I am a paper addict!!  I'm a true 12" x 12" girls . . . I love creating layouts!  I started of by mainly creating 2 pagers, but now I love the freedom a single page gives you.  With single pages one can be so much more artistic in your approach.  I also love to create off the page projects and home decor . . . especially around Christmas time. I create some cards, but by no means do I consider myself a card maker!

I've been honored to be on the several challenge blogs Design Teams, and even on a few paper manufacturing companies DT.  I will always cherish my time with these amazing teams!

One of my biggest scrappy achievements (for me) is being published.  I have been published numerous times in a South African magazine called Scrap Affairs!

I've also been published in the online US magazine Scrapbook News and Reviews.

I would describe my scrappy style as classic, but I also love doing a bit of shabby chic!  Techniques I love to use on my work are distressing, inking, sewing and clustering. Things I need to work on are my journaling . . . telling the actual story of the photos!

Things I love . . . My Creator, my family, chocolate, shopping, scrappy paper, snow, the ocean, a good book, good friends, good food and good wine :-)

Things I don't like . . . People constantly complaining, bullies of any kind, ungratefulness.
