Hello World - Layout Share

I am back with another mid-month reveal ... this time it's the awesome new Let's Scrap sketch!  Without any further ado ... here is the sketch and my layout!

This time around I stuck pretty close to the sketch, only changing some photo sizes.  I used a Teresa Collins collection called Life Emporium.  I love the soft colors of this collection which made it perfect for these photos of Kate's birth.

A mix of Prima and Petaloo flowers and leaves to match the softness of the layout ...

Title was created using my Silhouette ...

Tags was cut from left-over pattern paper.

The Let's Scrap DT created beautiful layouts based on the sketch, so be sure to head on the the blog and see all their beautiful work!!  We would love for you to play along with us!!

Wishing you all a beautiful Sunday with loved ones!!

Hello Friend - Mid-month reveal at Feeling Sketchy

Good Morning ... and Happy Sunday!!  It's the middle of November and time for a new card sketch at Feeling Sketchy!  Let me get right to it and share my take as well as the sketch with ya' all!

Feeling Sketchy Sketch #133 - 11-15-15

Another great sketchy to work with!!  I rotated this sketch to change the orientation for my sentiment and used lots of layers.  I heat embossed the beautiful Prima butterfly to the tags to give it just a little bit of sparkle.  The sentiment is also from Prima and I used Pewter embossing powder for this.  Love the effect!!

Our wonderful sponsor this time around is Bugaboo Stamps, be sure to check our their awesome goodies here!

As always, you have until 30 November to upload your card based on the sketch to the Feeling Sketchy blog!!  Come play with us ... :-)!!

It's all about Inspiration

Good Morning!!  Are you as excited about the weekend as I am??  Let me just tell you how excited I am and why!  For the past 2 months I was back in South Africa ... helping my son prepare for his final matric exams.  As you know, he is a "homeschooler" so I really wanted to be here for him and support him in any way necessary.  But that also meant leaving my hubby behind in Saudi Arabia. As adults we make sacrifices for our children, we put them and their needs first, as it should be.  But let me tell you, it's been hard ... I miss my husband so, so much.  But we can see the light at the end of the tunnel ... my husband will be here in South Africa for his annual leave over the weekend ... and I can't wait!!  This has been a hard year for us, with long separations and many Skype calls, but it's almost over and from here on end we expect lots of  "us" time.  And I can't wait!!

Okay, back to a new layout I created and what inspired me.  A few weeks ago I visited a Facebook friend scrapbook store in Somerset-West and my eye caught a layout she displayed,  The colors was just so vibrant, and I instantly loved it!  I knew I had the same FabScraps patterned paper in my stash, but also knew that I never would have combined these paper with the colors Cathy van Vollenstee used on her layout.  But it work so BEAUTIFUL together!!  And this is just what I did ... I used the gorgeous paper and color combo from Cathy's layout, and combined it with a Michelle van Wyk design and printables to create my layout.  I am loving the end result!!  Thank you Cathy and Michelle for your inspiration!!

Here is a look at my layout ...

I used the design from a layout from Michelle van Wyk called "The Love of a Family".  Patterned paper is Fabscraps and I used chipboard pieces from FabScraps, KaiserCraft and Leaky Shed.  All the chipboard pieces was heat embossed with Lindy Stamp Gangs white embossing powder.

Flowers from Bo Bunny and Petaloo.

I love the ribbon border and the Family printables worked perfect with my photos.

Here is a look at the original Michelle van Wyk layout .. I used this design for my layout.

Unfortunately, I do not have a picture of Cathy's layout to share with you, but the pattern paper and colors of the cardstock is all the same as on her layout.  I would have never thought to add the purple and turquoise cardstock to these FabScraps paper ,, but they compliment each other beautifully.   Thanks again Ladies!!

Wishing you all a fabulous weekend ... spend it with people you love and cherish every moment.  Be sure to check back on Sunday for new reveals from Let's Scrap and Feeling Sketchy!!  See you soon!!

Graphics 45's A Ladies Dairy Boxed Mini Album

Happy Sunday, everyone!!  I spent the last 2 days tucked away in my scrap room ... creating an awful mess which I still has to clean up ... BUT I also created the most incredible mini album!!  I saw one on Pinterest and wanted to create something similar because it is just genius!!  While I was organizing my scrap room last month, I re-discovered a whole collection kit of A Ladies' Dairy.  I love this collection of Graphics 45 even if it is a few years old already.  I simply love the vintage feel and imagery of this collection.  Let me show you a pic of the finished product ... And let me tell you ... I am in love with the end result :-)

Lots of fabulous Prima products to add to the beautiful images of the pattern paper.  There is just one spray of Teresa Collins gold mist to add some simmer and added color.  Since the box forms part of the structure of the miniealbum, I added this Tim Holtz crystal door knob to the side of the box to open up the box.  I had this knob in my stash for a while now and it is just stunning ... so glad I could finaly use it!!

I added some lace on the sides of the box to add to the overall vintage feel! And just because we all love lace ... right??

This is how it looks once the box is opened ...

Now you can see how the box is part of the mini's structure.  To the left is the 6 pockets which forms the mini album, each with a little mini book inside the pocket for more photos.  To the right is the top of the box.  Here is a closer look at each pocket and all the little details ...

First up is the first pocket that forms the album.  Some punched borders and Prima metal frame makes for a pretty page me thinks!!

Front of pocket 1

Next is the inside of the top of the box.  How gorgeous is this image!!  Here I added some Prima wooden icons and shapes.  It just works so well together!!

Inside the top of the box
I used some string to tie around this postcard image together with another image ... I love the look of it!!

Back of pocket 1 and front of pocket 2

Back of pocket 2 and front of pocket 3
Some lace, chipboard image and sticker!

Some detail on one of the pockets.
I used some distress ink and tags and added this to the side pocket on this page.

Back of pocket 3 and front of pocket 4
A closer look at the tags ...

Once again ... I just love these images!!

Back of pocket 4 and front of pocket 5

Back of pocket 6 and back of box.
And here is a look at the little booklets that slides into each pocket.

I didn't add to much embellishment here as I want to be able to slide them easily into the pockets.  Each booklet has space for 3 4" x 6" photos as well as a smaller photo on the front.  In total this mini will safe-keep about 35 photos of various sizes!  That's a lot of photos!!  I added lots of flaps on the pockets that helps to get so many photos in here!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a look at my project!!  I am really excited about this one.  I found another cute waterfall mini album and I want to create one as well!  Watch this space ;-)!!

Wishing you all a wonderful day and a blessed week ahead!!
