Let's Get Inky - Let's Scrap Challenge 188

Good morning!!!  I was asked to be a contributing DT for Lori's challenge at Let's Scrap, and I was super excited to play along . . . and then I totally forgot about it . . . :-(  But I still wanted to play!

Here is what the challenge is about:
My challenge to you is to get inky!!!
Requirements:  Card or Layout using any Let's Scrap past sketch and ink.  This can be misting, spraying, dripping, and/or inking edges.  Get brave and try a tad bit more ink than you typically use.

The Rules:
This challenge cannot be combined with the weekly main page sketch, special month-long cite-sponsored sketch, the BAM (Book about Me) challenges or the Scrap your Stash Challenge.

The layout must be something you scrapped new for this challenge not something that you previously made.

Here is my take  . . .

Here are a closer look . . .

I used my stamp pad and different Bo Bunny stamps on my background paper and flowers . . .

Colored my title chipboard with Distress Ink and then covered it with Glossy Accent . . .

Some white and Distress Stain splatters and highlighted some areas on my background paper with Distress Ink.

To color the doily, I first dabbed Distress Ink all over (Old Paper and Walnut Stain), and then sprayed it lightly with water.  Scrunch it up, straighten out and let dry.  I love how it turned out!

Here is how to create this layout.  You will need:
1 x C64 008
1 x C64 006
DC64 006
MC64 001A – “Notice All Ladies . . .”
1 x Craft Cardstock
2 x Dollies
Burlap
Flowers
Metal Brooch
Twine
2 x Buttons
3 x Bling
Stamps
Distress Ink, Distress Stain

Glossy Accent/Dimensional Glaze

Cut C64 008 down to 11.75” x 11.75”.  Distress and ink edges.
Using different stamps, stamp randomly on the background paper.
Stain doily by dabbing Distress Ink (Old Paper and Walnut Stain) all over the doily.  Lightly spray with water and scrunch.  Straighten doily out and let dry.  You can also use a heat tool/blow dryer to dry.
Cut 1 x doily (white) to fit against left edge of the layout.
Layer the stained doily over the white doily.
Cut a rectangle piece measuring 2.75” x 8.5” from C64 006.  Layer this piece together with burlap and 1 more piece of co-ordinating patterned paper at the bottom of the doily.  Measure with your photo to ensure it will show underneath once your photo has been glued down.
Glue down your photo.
Color your title chipboard with Distress Ink (Walnut Stain) and then cover with Glossy Accent/Dimensional Glaze.  Let it dry, and then add to your page.
Using the twine, make a bow and place just under the “U” of unwind.
Stamp on your flowers, and add to your page.  Layer one flower over the twine bow.
On right hand side of page, layer 2 small pieces of paper and burlap.
Add flower, button and bling.
Cut the “Notice:  All ladies . . .” from MC64 001A and glue on a metal brooch.  Cover with Glossy Accent/Dimensional Glaze en set aside to dry.  Once dry, add to page.
Add paint splatters by using white Mist and brown Distress Stain.

That's it . . . You're all done!!  Wishing you all a fab Sunday!!

Just Breathe . . . - Layout share

Happy Wednesday!

I quickly wanted to share with you a layout I created for CSI case file 365-6.  For those of you who know me, know that I struggle with the challenges at CSI.  I gave it a go a few times before but never really got "into" it . . . if you know what I mean.  Recently I really felt like I was in a rut with my scrapbooking.  I knew it was time to try something different and challenge myself.  That's when I thought . . . "Let's give CSI another go".  So here goes . . .

Here's a look at the case file . . .

And here is my take on it . . .

Here is how I solved the case:
The Scheme:  I used all 5 colors on my layout.
Evidence:
Rope/jute/twine
Jewels/flowers
Frames
Grid design
Testimony:
I framed my store and used "sea" and "fresh" in my journaling.

My journaling is hidden but here is what it says:
"On bad days like today the best medicine for me is to go for a long walk along the sea.  The stormy water matches my stormy mood perfectly, and it drowns out all the little voices of doubt in my head.  With each step I take on the soft sand, I talk to my Heavenly Father, because I know what ever I'm facing the right answer will come from Him.  And then I remind myself to JUST BREATHE . . ."

Here are a few closer look at my page . . .

I use papers from two different Teresa Collins collection as well as Prima and Bo Bunny flowers and some Bo Bunny stamps . . .

Journaling cards were used to write down my journaling and was tucked underneath my photo . .

The closing date for this case file is 30 June 2014.  More details and stunning examples are on the CSI page.  Go have a look!

Life is sweet!!

Well  . . . I am definitely on a roll today . . . second color challenge done!!  This is also for a blog that I am playing along for the first time . . .Life, Paper, Scrapbook.  They have 2 challenges each month . . . one sketch challenge and one mood board challenge.

Here is my take on the May mood board challenge.  Here's a look at the mood board . . .

This is soooo pretty . . . I just love this color combo!  Here is what I did with the mood board . . .

I used most of the colors on the mood board and I used the circle elements as well.  The paper are from Pink Paisley . . . an older collection called Indigo Bleu.

I used silver embossing powder and a stamp from Dovecraft for my title.  This one was quick and easy and I really love how it turned out!

This challenge close at June 9 if you want to play along!  Happy Scrapping!!

Layout Share!

Good morning from a very cold Western Cape!  The sun is shining but oh . . . the wind just cuts right through you!  Perfect day to spend in my scrap room . . . :-)!

So I discovered The Color Room . . . It's a color challenge site!  They give you a color palette each week together with a household item that needs to be used on the layout.  You can also use neutrals like black, white, cream, brown or kraft.

I used a sketch that I also found on The Color Room blog . . . Here's a look at the sketch and what I created . . .

How sweet it is to be loved by you

I used some gesso to tone down the pattern of my base paper, then used a Prima stencil with green paint . . . some paint splatters followed before I glued down my photos and embellishments.

I love these photos of my hubby and our grandson.  It shows the love these two have for one another.  It truly is a beautiful thing to watch and it melts my heart.  It makes me love my DH even more to see how much he love this little guy . . . {she types through teary eyes}.

I have a few more projects lined up for the weekend!  Wishing you all a wonderful Friday and a relaxed weekend!  If your in the Southern hemisphere like we ... Keep warm!!

Let's Scrap - Sketch 5-28-14

Happy Tuesday!

Here's a quick share with my take on the latest Let's Scrap sketch.  I simply loved this sketch, and although I changed it quite a bit, I definitely love the original sketch and see myself doing a layout without changing it!  Here's a look at the sketch and what I did with it . . .

29 WEEKS

5-28-14
I used the Teresa Collins "You are my happy" Collection, which I thought was so cute for these pregnancy photos of Monique.  I love the little elephants . . . :-)!!  I added some flowers, doillies and banners to complete this page.  A quick and easy one for me . . . but I really like the end result.  Here are a few close-up photos . . .

I used one of the flip folders from the collection on the right hand page.  Here's a look at the inside of the folder . ..

You have until midnight tonight to upload your take on this sketch to the Let's Scrap site.  Come on . . .  come play with us . . . :-)!
