Merry Christmas!

May your day be happy, joyful, safe and blessed with God's peace!  Merry Christmas!

My One Little Word for 2013

My OLW for 2013 - FAITH
faith noun
*  confidence or trust in a person or thing;
*  belief that is not based on proof;
*  belief in God or in the doctrines or teachings of religion.

I've decided once again to do the OLW with Ali Edwards this year.  For you who are new to the One Little Word concept here is what Ali has to say about it . . .

"A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow.
Last fall I wrote about the power of words and getting those words down when you are scrapbooking. Today I want to introduce you to the idea that a single word can be a catalyst for enriching your life as well as your scrapbook layouts.
Last year I began a tradition of chosing one word for myself each January – a word that I can focus on, mediate on, and reflect upon as I go about my daily life.
Can you identify a single word that sums up what you want for yourself in 2013?
It can be something tangible or intangible. It could be a thought or a feeling or an emotion. It can be singular or plural. The key is to find something that has personal meaning for you. This is not your mother’s word or your spouse’s word or your child’s word – this is YOUR word.
One little word can have big meaning in your life if you allow yourself to be open to the possibilities. And here’s one thing that is totally interesting: sometimes a word will pop into your brain and it will not make any sense to you right now. Give it some time. Let it percolate a bit. I have often found that our hearts speak to us in very unique ways. Maybe this is a word you need to hear but just aren’t ready for it yet. Again, be open to the possibilities."

I did this in 2011 for the first time and had an amazing experience.  For 2011 my word was Grace,  and I truly lived it for the year, now it has become a part of who I am.  For some reason I did not choose a word for 2012, and it's something I regret, but luckily a new year is looming and I have a word that I'm so ready to LIVE in 2013.

Today I took the time and created a layout for my OLW which will be hanging on my studio wall for the next year . . .

Products:  Teresa Collins, Martha Stewart, AC, Prima, Kaisercraft
I used this sketch from Amarily's . . .

I love tho work with Amy's sketches!!

Here are a few close-up's . . .

Please visit Ali's blog for more info on her One Little Word project and class at Big Pictures Classes, and leave her some love if you decide to do a OLW for 2013.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and some well deserved cuddle time with loved ones!!

Colorful Creations + Scrap Africa + C'est Magnifique

Yes, it's a mouthful!!!  I found this GREAT sketch at C'est Magnifique blog for their December Sketch challenge and I used it for the Color Palette event at Colorful Creations.  The new Scrap Africa challenge is up as well and FILMSTRIP is the main focus of this challenge, and when I saw the sketch I knew I could easily incorporate the filmstrips in my layout.  Here is a look at what I created . . .

Products:  MME, Silhouette Cameo, Studio Calico, Bazzill, Hot off the Press, StazOn
Here is the color palette that was given for the challenge at Colorful Creations . . .

Isn't this image just beautiful!!!  And a look at the C'est Magnifique sketch . . . which I LOVE!!!

And here are a few close-up's . . .

I'm really am loving the end result of this layout!  Perfect to capture this memory for my daughter and her family!

I want to take a moment and thank all of you for your kind e-mails and messages on the move ahead.  We are all packed and most of the final arrangements has been done.  Leaving Saudi Arabia requires quite a bit of paper work, and all of this is taken care of and we have our final exits in hand.  The cargo company will pick up the boxes on the 29th and we will get on the plane heading for South Africa January 1st.  Thank you for all the well wishes, hugs and thoughts from all of you!  I cherish them all!

Wishing you all a great day!!

A quick share of one more Colorful Creations layout!  This time its for the Member Spotlight event.  With today being 12-12-12 I wanted to do a page for my son's album, documenting what he's doing on this day.  Here is what I came up with . . .

Products:  Simple Stories, EK Success
I had Ruan journal in his own handwritting on the "LIFE IS" tag.  I know he will look it many years from now and have a good laugh about it.  I love this photo of him . . . such a charming young man!!  Here's the sketch . . .

do you have any special plans for 12-12-12?   Whatever you are up to today . . . ENJOY!!

Colorful Creations - Quote of the Month Challenge

I have another Colorful Creations challenge done and dusted!!  I'm really loving the inspiration these challenges are giving me at the moment!  The quote we have to use are a great one . . .

"Life is art
Paint your dreams
Sing your song
Enjoy the dance"

Beautiful, right?  Here is what I came up with . . .

Products:  Teresa Collins, Silhouette, AC
This is one of the photos from the photographer when Llewellyn was 16 days old.  The black background makes it very dramatic, but I do think the photo deserves a dramatic effect!

I'm so loving this Teresa Collins collection of papers . . . I've created several layouts with it and I LOVE every single one of them!

Hee are some close-up's of the layout . . .

Wishing you all a wonderful Tuesday!!

Brag time . . . and a Colorful Creations challenge!

Let me do the brag first . . . :-)!

with this layout from the November main challenge . . .

My DH said it's not because of my scrappy talent . . . but because he and Llewellyn are the stars of the photo . . . HA!!  I had a good chuckle about that!!

I completed another page for one of the Colorful Creations challenges.  This time it's for the "Plus 1" challenge!  You had to use cream and green and butterflies!  I really liked the color combo for this challenge . . . here is what I created . . .

Products:  Authentique, AC, Bo Bunny, Kaisercraft, MS, Silhouette
This is one of the first photos of Llewellyn after he was born.  Every time I look in a baby's face I'm reminded of God's grace . . . that miracles really do happen everyday!  I'm really so pleased with how this one turned out!  It's going onto my wall until I have to pack it up . . . :-)

I used this sketch from Scrapbook Steals for this layout . . .

Here are a few up-close photos of my layout . . .

Thanks for stopping by . . . see you soon!!
