Sketch 11-21-12 @ Let's Scrap

I quickly wanted to share my take on this weeks Let's Scrap sketch!  This one was designed by the amazing Michelle van Wyk, and I loved, LOVED, loved working with it!!  Here's a look at Michelle's sketch . . .

The perfect sketch to use when you have lots of photos.  Here is what I did with the sketch . . .

Products:  FabScraps, MME, Silhouette, Kaisercraft
I used the bright and fun Summer Collection paper from Fabscraps . . . I just love the blue and red polka dots . . . so perfect for beach photos!!  These precious photos was taken of DGS Llewellyn's first trip to the beach.  He loved the water and the sand . . . and we loved watching him enjoying the experience!!

I used a Silhouette Studio file to create this cute sail boat  . . .

I think it turned out so cute!!!  And here's a few sea stars as well.  I have to say that the Silhouette Cameo and corrigated cardstock are not friends.  I had to cut all the shapes from left over pieces of cardstock and the trace them to the corrigated paper and cut with my scissors!!

Now I have to clean my dining room table . . . It look like a bomb went off in the room!!!  Wish me luck!!  Have a FABULOUS week!!!!

Playing along with an old favorite!!

It's been AGES since I played along with the Scrapping Everyday Miracles challenges, and after completing both challenges for November, I don't know why I ever stopped!!  I had so much fun creating these layouts!!  And since it's only 2 challenges a month . . . there really  is NO excuse for not playing along!!  It will definitely put them back on my "to do list"!!!

First, let's take a look at the main challenge for November . . . Challenge #22 - Family Ties and the scrap twist is to use ribbon on your project.  It couldn't be any easier . . . especially in November!!!  I wanted to scrap a page about my DH and our grandson Llewellyn.  The love my husband has for this precious little boy brings tears to my eyes E-V-E-R-Y-S-I-N-G-L-E-T-I-M-E!!!  My hubby becomes this big softy every time Llewellyn's name is mentioned . . . it's the sweetest thing!!!  Here is my layout for the main challenge . . .

Products:  Bo Bunny, MME, Silhouette,
I used the last of my Country Garden collection paper from Bo Bunny!  They are just to gorgeous to NOT use!!  Photos were taken the first time Llewellyn was at the beach . . . and Grandpa introducing him to the wonders of the ocean!!  Llewellyn just LOVED it . . . the water, the sand, the creatures . . . all of it!!!

Here are a few close-up's . . .

The second challenge from Scrapping Everyday Miracles are the November Sketch Challenge.  Let's take a look at the sketch provided . . .

And the scrap twist was to use a number or numbers anywhere on your layout . . . easy peasy, right!!!!
And here is yet another Llewellyn layout for my entry . . .

Products:  Doodlebug Designs, Bazzill, StazOn, Hot off the Press
I can stare at his little face all-day-long . . . sooooo adorable!!  I love the dimension of this layout!  It really add so much interest to the page.  I used some stamps to add the numbers to the journaling card.

You have until the end of November to add your entries to the challenges on the SEM blog.  I hope to see your creations there!!  Have fun playing!!!

A Tribute to a Friend!

Betty Ann Orr
This morning I learned that a friend had died last night!  And I am so sad!  This was one of the most remarkable woman I "knew"!  The sad, or maybe amazing, thing is . . . I never met this woman, I have never spoken to her on the phone, never heard her voice . . . I only knew this woman through my computer.  Betty Anne Orr and I was both members, together on the Design Team and most of all friends on "Let's Scrap" . . . You've all seen me mention Let's Scrap a million time on this blog of mine, and this is where our friendship bloomed!  But it soon became not just a scrappy friendship but a personal one as well.  Betty was a woman with a big and kind heart . . . she loved encouraging us at Let's Scrap, she loved cheering us on, when we had bad time, she's the one who would sent you a message, wanting to know how you was doing, thinking of you, praying for you.  That's just who she was . . . loving, caring, considerate, generous!  What I will always remember of Betty Anne was her love and devotion for her family.  Betty was married to Tom, had 2 boys, and 3 grandchildren . . . and  grand baby #4 on the way!  Her family was her life!  She was the one taking care of everyone, loving them with all her heart.  She loved documenting her family's memories and she created the most beautiful heritage pages of her past.  I know all of her pages will be cherished by her family.  Through her pages they will know just how much she loved them!  Today they lost a wonderful wife, loving mother and a precious grand mother.  My thoughts and prayer are with them all!

And I'm thinking of the Let's Scrap community, where her passing will leave a huge gap!  We will miss her dearly!!  Today, Heaven gained an Angel.  Rest in Peace, Betty Anne Orr . . . you will be missed!!

You make my heart glow!

At CSI Case File #46 are up and I had time to play along.  This one was tough for me since purple and I are not friends.  After looking at the challenge, and rummaging through my stash I discovered that I do not own any patterned paper in purple or even with the tiniest hint of purple in it!!  Luckily for me, CSI has a download file chock-full of printables  . . . with paper . . . for you to use!!  I'm so thankful for those because without them I would not have been able to complete this challenge!!  Here are a look at Case File #46 . . .

Case File #46
This is what I created . . .

You make my heart glow
I use Creative Scrappers sketch #235 for the design.  Here's a look at the sketch . . .

I love the strips down the side of the sketch . . . Great sketch to work with!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my US friends!!

CSI: Case File #45

Okay, so I'm still very much intimidated with the CSI challenges, but I have to be honost . . . they also are fun to do . . . not easy for me, but fun!!  Why do you ask??  Because I get to go through all my papers to find the right colors and patterns to match, and then I discover old treasures . . . patterned paper that has been "forgotten" in the cupboard!  That's the FUN part . . .:D!!!

Here is what challenge #45 looks like . . .

And this is my take on the challenge . . .

Products:  Authentique, Bazzill, Bo Bunny, Simple Stories, MS, Prima, Kaisercraft, Silhouette Cameo
I used some older pictures of me (2011) which my daughter snap on a snowy day in January!  Seeing these pics reminds me of the fun we had that day in the snow!!

Let's Scrap Sketch - 11-7-12

Here's my take on this weeks Let's Scrap sketch!!  This sketch is designed by one of the DT member, Eniko, and it was an easy and fun sketch to work with!  Great job with the sketch, Eniko!!

Here's a look at the sketch . . .

Let's Scrap sketch - 11-7-12
I used photos from 2009 to scrap a layout of my hubby and kiddos.  These are beautiful pictures taken by my friend Clarissa.  She's such an amazing photographer and I love her work!

The day we celebrate DAD
I used Bo Bunny paper and embellishments for this page.  I really love the royal blue with these papers, and they really make the photos pop!

I also completed a layout for challenge 143 at Let's Scrap.  The challenge is to create a polaroid frame or matte for at least one photo on your layout!  Easy peasy!!  I used card sketch 2-10-12 to create this layout . . .

FabScraps Summer collection papers worked perfectly for this page of DGS Llewellyn's first trip to the ocean.  I'm not sure who had more fun . . . him or us!!

Thanks for stopping by . . . Happy Sunday!!

A month of Gratitude with Teresa Collins

Although we do not celebrate Thanksgiving like those of you in the US, I always loved the idea of having a day to give thanks!  I know I have so many little things (and big things) in my life to be thankful for, and I really am!!

Teresa Collins are on a month long quest to DOCUMENT life and gratitude, and I decided in joining her during November!  You can read all about it on her blog, but it's fairly simple to do and will take only a few minutes everyday of your time!

Basically all you have to do is write down each day what you were most thankful for in that day. Teresa is doing it on journal pages that she will bind at the end of the month into a mini-album.  I am doing mine on my PC for now, since I do not have journal paper that I love.  As soon as find one I will simply print what I've written on the pages to bind them into a mini later.

I will share some of my pages each week here!  This will help keep me on track!  I hope you will join us in counting our blessing in November!

Another Colorful Creations layout . . .

i wanted to show of today!!  This one is for the Twisted Blueprint event.  You are given a sketch and a twist to work with.  Here is a look at the sketch . . .

Twisted Blueprints - 29 Oct - 4 Nov
The Twist is to use the color blue an heart on the layout. I turned this into a 2-pager and this is what I came up with . . .

Products:  Bo Bunny, EK Success, Silhouette, American Crafts
Halfway through this layout I wasn't sure it was working and I almost started over.  I'm so glad I didn't and that I just went ahead with it.  I think it's so cute . . . almost as cute as this little guy . . . almost!!!!  This is DGS Llewellyn @ 10 months.  10 months of awesomeness!!!!  I just love his little face!!

Thanks for stopping by . . . wishing you a wonderful Sunday!!!

CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration . . . Case #43

After I heard some raving reviews of the wonderfulness of the CSI site from my friend Val Thorpe I went and checked it out!  I have to be honest . . . I had a look at this site before and I was totally intimidated by the beautiful layouts in the gallery.  These layouts are elaborate, clustered masterpieces and NOTHING at all like my style.  Also, I'm very easily intimidated with color challenges . . . I always feels that is the only colors one are allowed to use, and I don't always have those colors available . . . and a trip to the scrapbook store is not an options for me!!  But I've learned a few lessons recently and my attitude towards scrapbooking has changed.  I actually wanted to play along, but I also knew I had to be honest to myself and not try and change my style to fit what my perception of the CSI site was.

I looked at the Case File for challenge #43 and actually thought . . . "I can do this!!"  So I did . . . lol!!  Here is a look at the challenge . . .

CSI:  CASE FILE #43
You had to use all 5 colors, 2 elements from Evidence and 1 element from Testimony.  I also used a sketch from Colorful Creations (Guest Designer 29 October - 4 November).  Here's a look at the sketch . . .

and the layout I created and entering to both challenges . . .

Products:  Echo Park, MS, Ranger, Prima, Silhouette, Mr Huey
I think this turned out great and I really love the photo of this little family!!  I think I'm going to try and keep doing the CSI challenges . . . they take me right out of my comfort zone and really challenge me . . . but I sort of like it!!

There's a new sketch + color challenge site on the web . . . Sketch With Color.  They have their first challenge posted . . . please go and have a look and play along.  They would love the support!!

October LOAD challenge . . . here's what I did!!

Okay, so in the previous post I shared that I created 27 layouts (43 pages) and what makes it so special for me, is that I REALLY love what I created!!  That is rare for me . . . I do not always love my work . . . and I know it's because I'm to critical of what I do!  I have to say that THIS post from Cathy Zielske's blog really had a lot to do with my attitude.  In the post she really address a few issues that I had with myself . . . this post really spoke to my heart!  This will be my approach to this hobby I love so much from now one.  Thank you Cathy!

Back to what I did in October . . . Here are a few layouts I haven't already shared here on my blog . . . and please know that I'm not about to bore you with all 27 layouts . . . lol!!

First here are some of the layouts I created for Let's Scrap . . .

And that's how I spent my time in October!!!  I really had so much fun and am going to try and continue with LOAD for November as well . . . wish me luck!!!

Have a great weekend!!
