Everyday life and Scrap Africa Sketch Challenge #7

I'm so guilty of not updating this little blog of mine . . . but what can I say?!?  It's summer, and although here in Saudi Arabia it means that we DO NOT spent to much time outside, it still means that we are visiting with friends while schools are closed for the summer break!  I have been taking a little scrappy break, since it felt like my mojo went on summer vacation as well!  I'm trying to find inspiration in the everyday things, but I have to admit, it's hard right now!  We had to move houses as well and that sure did not help me to get creative!!  But on the plus side . . . now I have this lovely view from my living room window . . .

I quickly wanted to share two layouts that I have created for Scrap Africa's sketch challenge.  I started out yesterday with the sketch and ended up with this layout . . .

You melt my heart
Isn't this picture of Llewellyn just beautiful!!  Those big eyes really melts my heart!! I really like how this one turned out, but when I showed it to my husband, he could not see how I ended up with this layout from this sketch . . .

Scrap Africa - Sketch Challenge #7
And because of my husbands confusion I decided to create one more layout, trying to stick closer to the sketch, and this is what I ended up with try #2 . . .

Moment by Moment

And this one, I like very much!!!  I used the "Follow Your Heart" collection from MME to create both these layouts.

I will try to came back in a day or two and do a post on the layout I've created since my last post and some other scrappy news!  Hope to see you soon!!

Scrap Africa's South African Flag Challenge!

I simply love this Scrap Africa challenge!!!  It's so original and have limitless possiblilities!!  Here is what this challenge is all about . . .

"How many of you actually know how does South African flag look like?  If you didn't know before now you will know!  Here it is:

Challenge #6 - South African Flag Challenge

Colorful, isn't it? But we think that it is pretty inspiring as well!
So here is the challenge for you:
use at least 3 colors featured on the flag in your project.
You can use: black, white, red, green, blue or yellow.
Additionally you can add grey, cream of beige.
No other color can be used!
The colors on your photographs are not taken into account -
it doesn't count towards the minimum 3 and it can be any color.
Another thing to make it clear:
you are not required to use precise colors as it is on the flag but! -
green must be green and blue must be blue.
It should be yellow and not orange, and it should be red and not pink."

I told you this is a FUN one!!!!  Here is my entry for this challenge . . .

I love this photo of my hubby and son!  I love to see them this close and forming a bond that will last for the rest of their lives!!  This wasn't always the case with  these two!  Don't get me wrong . . . the love was always there, but their personalities are so different that we were bound to have major differences!!  In the last few years this has started to change, and they are working hard to form a solid and beautiful father-son bond.  And I just love to see this little miracle happening!  I love both of them so much, and as a mom and wife, you kind of feel in the middle when they clash, and I enjoy to see them now playing, enjoying and loving each other more than ever!!

I used Echo Park "A Boy's Life" papers and banner for this layout!  I love the fun and bright colors. I chose to work with the blue, red and yellow.  I also used little bits of grey and cream.

Additionally I've used this Creative Scrappers sketch for this layout.  Here is a look at this versatile sketch . . .

That's it from me today!  Have a great day!!

This week at Let's Scrap!!

Cheri has a really fun sketch and Michelle van Wyk has a tutorial on how to create the sunburst for the sketch!  First, let me share Cheri's sketch with you . . .

Let's Scrap Sketch 7-4-12
When I first looked at the sketch it was if a light bulb went on in my head!!!  I just knew which photos and paper I wanted to use.  And let me just say . . . it was a match made in heaven for me!!!  If you are unsure on how to create the sunburst . . . which you see everywhere on scrappy sites . . . the amazingly talented Michelle van Wyk shared a tutorial on the Let's Scrap site.  You can see Michelle's tutorial HERE!!

I used photos Monique sent me of little Llewellyn at 6 months!  These pictures of him just melts my heart!  And the one of him smiling with those teeth showing reduces me to a little puddle on the ground!!!  He is just so adorable and sweet and cute ... and I miss him terribly!!!  Here is my layout . . .

I felt like I cheated a little with this layout!  The sunburst on the left hand side are one of the elements from the Simply Stories Summer Fresh Collection.  I just cut it out and stuck it to the denim paper and then extended the sunburst to the right hand page. Here is some close-ups from the layout . . .

I just could not resist to use it for this layout . . . it simple perfect for this layout!!  Everything on this layout is from the Summer Fresh collection.

Be sure to view all the beautiful layouts that's already in the Let's Scrap gallery for some inspiration!!  Hope to see your layout soon there too!!
