Another INSM Challenge at Let's Scrap

I had time to squeeze in one more challenge for the International Scrap Month at Let's Scrap!  I don't think I will complete all the challenges, but I am happy with what I did get done!  The newest layout was done for Challenge #12 hosted by Susanna Granroth.  She provided us with a bingo chart to choose elements from and of course you had to use a Let's Scrap sketch.  Here is the bingo chart Susanna provided:

I chose to work with a diagonal line using bling, pattern papers, swirl and heart . . . and I created this layout

Pattern paper, heart and swirl - Kaisercraft
Bling, lace, flowers and leaves - Prima
Alphas - MME
Punch - EK Success
Crackle Accent
Pendant from Tattered Inspiration
Brads from my stash

This layout is one of those that you scrap because it cheaper to scrap than to see a therapist.  Monique and I are at such a strange place in our relationship, and I realize that I can not treat her any longer as a girl . . . although in my eyes she will always be my little girl.  But it's time to let her go . . . to allow her to spread her wings and fly.  I'll be praying for her, I'll be there if she falls to pick up the pieces, I will be her soft landing  when things turn out differently than she expected and life show her it cruel side.  But it's not easy . . . it's braking my heart little by little.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!!

Guest Designer for Scrap Africa!

Today a new challenge is going live over at Scrap Africa, and since I was one of the winners of a previous challenge, they asked me to be a guest designer for this challenge!  Let me just say how much I enjoy the challenges and sketches of this blog!!!  Each challenge is unique and fun . . . and the sketches easy to create beautiful layouts with.  If you haven't played along yet, you are missing out!!!

The new challenge (challenge #5) is such a great one!!  Here is what it's all about:

"You will need to create any scrap project (a layout, a card or an altered object) with a phrase on it "Keep Calm and..." - the end of the phrase is up to you. Be funny, be creative, be thoughtful - whatever the moodyou are in, as long as you spread the calmness around :-)))
If you will decide to create a poster featuring a phrase, make sure you think of something innovative and interesting:
It must not be just plain letters on the plain background!
You can see some ideas of "Keep Calm" phrases on this Pinterest board."

Like I said . . . FUN AND UNIQUE challenges!!!

My inspiration for this challenge came from the cover of a Scrapbooks etc. magazine cover.

I just fell in love with this frame and it seemed perfect for this challenge.  What I really love about the frame, is that it's so easy to change the photos and keep this current!

Here is my version of this beautiful project with the "Keep Calm . . ." twist on it!

And here is some close-up shots . . .

I used some Simple Stories paper, elements and stickers . . . from the Documented collection!!  I LOVE this collection! We picked the frame up at IKEA, and the pins I had in my stash.

This is now proudly displayed on my wall and I really love how it turned out.  Easy to change to keep it current with new family pictures.

Be sure to check out all the details at Scrap Africa!!  We can't wait to see your interpretations of this unique challenge.

Happy scrapping!!

Happy Mother's Day!!

Be gentle, be good, be helpful and be kind . . . even to yourself!!!

Have a wonderful day!!

Catching Up!!

This is going to be one of those very long, photo heavy post!  Just grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!

Let's Scrap is having a month long celebration in honor of Scrapbooking Day . . . and they have some GREAT challenges to play along to!!!

You can also find a master list with all the challenges HERE, and a list with all the rules HERE!!

Here is my layouts for some of the challenges that I've completed this far:

FUNDRAISER - I love being part of Let's Scrap and I give my donation each year with a happy heart!!!

SCRAP BINGO - This game is SO MUCH FUN . . . and the ladies playing along . . . HILARIOUS!!!!!

INSM12#1 - Sketch Challenge

A great sketch with an even better prize!!!  You can win a Fancy Pants prize pack for playing along with this one!

Here is the sketch . . .

Paper - Bazzill Basics DinoMite Collection
Punches - EK Success
Alphas - American Crafts
Paint - Jenni Bowlin

This one got me all emotional, but a treasure for the future!  So happy with how this one turned out!!!!

Paper - MME Miss Caroline Collection
Punch - Martha Stewart
Envelopes and Flowers cut with Silhouette Cameo and design from Silhouette Studio
Twin and Brads- MME
Alphas - Prima

And some close-up's from this layout . . .

Although this challenge is already closed I still want to share my layout.  The pictures I've used for this layout is from 2010, and they really tell the story of where my scrapbooking journey began.

Paper - Pink Paislee - London Market
Flowers and Swirls cut with Sixxiz Big Shot and Tim Holtz die
Heart embellishment - Prima
Alphas - MME

This challenge is also closed.  I did not realize that we only had a few days for this challenge, and I wanted to play along.  I had about 1 hour to complete a layout and submit it to the Let's Scrap Gallery.  Here is what I came up with . . .

I was so not happy with this layout . . . I looked to plain and "naked" for my taste.  I just had to "re-vamp" it!!  And then it turned out like this . . .

Paper - Bo Bunny
Flowers - Cut with Silhouette Cameo and Silhouette Studio design
Swirls - Cut with Sixxiz Big Shot and Tim Holtz die
Buttons and Bling - Bo Bunny
Alphas - Bo Bunny and Enmarc

Funny how a few flowers and swirls can really transform a layout!!

Elizna challenged us to use a bing card on a  layout.  You could use any bingo card, bought, stamped, digi . . and also your layout must have a banner on.

This was a quick and easy one to create!!

Paper - Simple Stories
Rub-on - Karen Foster

This is an AWESOME game that will take you all over the Let's Scrap site!!!  I had SO MUCH FUN doing this one.  This game close tomorrow - May 14th - so HURRY, HURRY, HURRY!!!!!

Please remember that there are still a ton more of challenges and games going on at Let's Scrap . . . these few are just the one's that I had time to complete!!  Be sure to check out all the fun and inspiration!!

Have a great weekend!!

Celebrating Mothers Day with Scrap Africa and Sketchabilities!!

Happy Tuesday!!  Today we celebrate that our very adorable little grandson is 4 months old!  Let me just tell you . . . he is so CUTE!!!  Every time Monique sent me pictures of him, my heart just aches!!  Here is a picture she shared with me this morning!

Llewellyn @ 4 months!!

Now on to scrappy stuff!!  I wanted to create a special layout to celebrate Monique's first Mothers day, and  Challenge #4 at Scrap Africa allowed me to do just that.  I combined the challenge with this weeks sketch at Sketchabilities and came up with something I'm very proud of.

Here is the sketch . . .

I stuck pretty close to this wonderful sketch and created this . . .

Paper and wooden buttons - Pink Paislee
Swirls - KaiserCraft
Punches - Martha Stewart
Title - FabScraps
Pins - Making Memories
Ranger  Paint

Here are some close-up's . . .

I found this poem on the internet, and immediately loved it for this layout.  It's tucked on the tag behind the main photo.  The poem reads . . .

Little girls have always dreamed,
Of one day being grown;
Of having a home and family,
And children of their own
As little girls they played the games,
With dollies cuddled near,
Of being grown up Mommies,
And now that day is here.
For cuddled sweetly in her arms,
Of the little girl now grown;
Is the sweetest dream she ever dreamed,
A baby of her own
In all the years of growing up,
In the games that little girls play;
None will ever be so sweet,
As her very first Mother's Day.
