As you may have noticed it's been about a week since my last post (so sorry!!!), and today I was totally amazed to see my blog counter are already way past the 1000 mark!! I am so VERY grateful for each & every one of you stopping by and saying HI!!

I also want to give a special shout-out to one of my sister who is checking up on me through my blog! I'm the only scrapbooker in my family, and with living away from our home country, I was truly surprised to learn in December that my sis is reading my blog! Thanks Cyrilene, I love you & appreciate you being here so very much!!

Over the weekend I've finished the last 2 resolutions for the Let's Scrap blog hop. Here are the layouts!

Resolution #11: Create a layout or card using blue, white & silver.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE how this layout turned out!! The colors work so well together and I simply adore these pictures of my 2 guys!
Paper - Little Yellow Bicycle Generation Z
Rub ons - Bo Bunny

Resolution #14: Numbers challenge. Use 1 x ribbon/lace, 2 x pattern paper, 3 x flowers and 4 x bling.

This layout was a challenge & stuggle for me. In all of my paper stash, I could not find paper to work with Monique's cheerleading pic! Out of desperation I tried the Bo Bunny Block party paper thinking it's to bright to work! I have to say I'm happy with how this one turned out!
Paper - Bo Bunny Block party
Ribbon flowers - Dear Lizzy
Bookplates - Bo Bunny
Title - Cricut & SCAL using Pep Rally font

Please remember the hop is still going until February 14 at midnight (watch the clock on the Let's Scrap main page for the "official" time!!)

Happy Monday!!!

Still HoPing . . .

YES, the Let's Scrap blog hop is still happening! So many lovely layouts are already in the gallery . . . Go on . . . check it out HERE!!!

Speaking of, here is a few more layouts I've entered for the different Resolutions!

Resolution#3 & Resolution#9: I've made a 2-pager, using the left side for Resolution#3 (using at least 3 pp and some stitching) and the right side for Resolution#9 (scrap something that makes you smile!). Here is what they look like side by side.

Resolution#4: Creating a card or layout using a list.
This was a fun one!!! I decided on a card which was quick and easy to make.

Resolution#5 & Resolution#7: Again, making a 2-pager and using each page for a different Resolution.

Left page, Resolution#7: Create a banner on your layout.
Right page, Resolution#5: You can't open a pack of ANYTHING new!

Resolution#8 & Resolution#10:
Resolution#8: Using a black & white photo and blue & yellow embellies.
Resolution#10: Trash to treasure challenge.

Resolution#12: Use eyelets on your layout.

Resolution#13: Using only cardstock - NO patterned paper!
This layout is also for the friendship challenge over at The Paper Variety.

Don't we all love it when you win some scrappy goodies???? I know I really get a kick out of winning something. Not just for the prize, but for the recognition that goes along with it!!

I found out early this week that our group won the Scrap Whispers Big Reveal Game. This really, really is a fun game to play, and I'm not sure there is many like them available on the world wide web. This is how it works. You have to sign up, and then you get divided into teams with 5 players each. You also have a team leader at the helm, normally the team leader is one of the Scrap Whispers DT members. The some layout (created by Georgina) is sent to all the team leaders, they have a week to complete the layout and to send only THEIR CREATIONS to the next team member. No team member except the team leader see the origanal layout. Each member has to scraplift the layout she receives. At the end of the game it's really funny to see how the layouts changed with each layout. You can check out all the details HERE.

Here is the announcement of TEAM 1 winning!

Thanks Rosey and all my team mates for being a great team!!!

I was also runner up at Soul Scrapper's Spooky Spirits challenge. What a surprise this one was!!! I'm not great with halloween pages, and I don't have halloween pictures since it's not much of a holiday in South Africa, or Korea. I do have a few halloween pictures that was taken in Saudi were the children do celebrate halloween at school.

For this challenge Shazza sent you a goodie bag filled with halloween embellishments, and you have to used it in the most creative way on a layout, card, mini album or altered object. Pretty much on anything you can think off! Here is Shazza's winning announcement!!

Sign up's for the next game will follow shortly. Keep checking the forum for more details!!

What a great way to kick of the new year, hey!!

Have a wonderful day!!

Let's Scrap Blog Hop Layouts

Soooo, have you checked out the Let's Scrap Hoppy New Year blog hop already??? I have to confess I'm having loads of fun with this one!! There is some really great challenges the DT/CDT ladies came up with!

I quickly want to share some of the layouts I've completed for the blog hop.

Resolution#1: Scraplift one of the AMAZING layouts in the Let's Scrap gallery.

When I saw Betty's Challenge I immediately knew which layout I wanted to scraplift. It's from a friend of mine, and she's one very talented lady. I chose to scraplift this amazing layout from Karien van der Westhuizen.

One of the reason this is such a favorite of mine is because of the K&Company papers Karien have used. I have the same patterned papers and could not figure out a way to make them work for me. And I truely loved how Karien has used them. Here is my layout.

Papers - K&Company
Flowers - Bo Bunny
Punch - EK Success
Bling - Zva
Title - Cricut

As you can see I stuck really close to Karien's original design. Thank you Karien for being my inspiration on this one!!

Resolution#2: Color challenge
Kristin gave us the following color palette to work with. Isn't it yummy??

I'm totally loving everything pink, so this was a easy one for me. I had some cute pictures printed of my son which I wanted to scrap, but I wasn't sure how he would feel about the pink. I selected a few pp's for him to choose from, and I was quite surprise at his choices!!! This is what he (and I) created!

Papers - Basic Grey Bittersweet
Punch - EK Success
Ribbon -
Rub on - Scrapbook King (South African company)

LOVE this picture of Ruan!!!! It was taken the day after we went shopping for some new clothing for him. I realised once again that he's no longer my little boy!! A sad moment for me for sure!!

I'll be back tomorrow to share some of the other blog hop layouts so be sure to check back in again!!! Remember, the hop will continue until February 14 @ midnight, so if you haven't started you still have plenty of time!! Come on . . . what are you waiting for??

Happy Tuesday, friends!!!

Hoppy New Year Blog Hop - Welcome to Resolution #6

Whoo-ooh!!!! It's here, it's here!! The Let's Scrap Hoppy New Year Blog Hop starts today!!! Welcome to RESOLUTION #6 on the hop!!!

Here are the master rules for the blog hop:(can also be found on the Let's Scrap main page!)

* You must become a follower of each of the blogs hosting the blog hop.

* Leave each blog host a little love (comment) so they know you stopped by.

* When completing the challenges, you must use a Let’s Scrap sketch unless it
is otherwise stated in the challenge. You can find the sketches under the
Sketches 2009 and Sketches 2010 tabs.

* You must tag each entry with the correct Resolution # followed by the Let’s Scrap sketch number you used to create it. It’s important that you tag them correctly as we won’t have time to be checking every tag and I don’t want anyone to miss out on a draw. To tag an entry correctly, there must be no space between Resolution and the #. As an example, if I used sketch number LS120 for Resolution #1, my tag would read: Resolution#1, LS120.

* You cannot combine any of the challenges with any other challenge, with the weekly sketches running from Jan. 12th-Feb.14th or with the Julie Bonner sketch. We are running the Blog Hop for a month so you will have plenty of time to complete all 15 blog hop challenges and Kathy’s special challenges. We are cancelling the regular weekly Design Team challenges for the duration so you won’t have to worry about trying to do them too.

* I know many of you prefer to do two page layouts. If you do, you can use one side of a sketch for one challenge and the other side of the sketch for another challenge as long as the side you are using has the required elements on it for the challenge you are submitting it for. Make sure to post each side separately
and tag them for the challenge they are specifically for.

* You will get ONE entry for each challenge prize for each single page entered. So if you choose to enter both sides of a two-page sketch for one challenge, you would get two entries for the prize. If you enter 3 single pages for the same challenge, you would get 3 entries for the prize draw etc.

* If you complete all 15 challenges make sure to leave a comment for me in the Cosmo Cricket Grand Prize discussion in the forum so I make sure your name gets into the draw for the grand prize.

* All members including the Design Team, Contributing Design Team, Administrators etc. submitting an entry for a challenge are eligible to win a prize for the blog hop challenges but the DT/CDT’s and Administrators are not eligible for the grand prize from Cosmo Cricket.

* All challenges must be posted in the photo gallery by 11:59 pm (central time) on Feb. 14, 2011. As the members are in many different time zones we will be going by the clock on the main page for the time

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

The best 10 of 2010

While browsing the internet looking at other blogs, I've noticed that many bloggers did a "best of 2010" blogging, so I decided to join in and share some of my favorite, or layouts that I'm proud of, that were done in 2010. Here we go, in no specific order:

HARTSVRIENDIN - This layout was the one that started my love affair with stitching on layouts. A technique I truly came to love!!

BEAUTIFUL - My first layout to submit for a DT position. How I fussed and fretted over this one, wanting everything just to be perfect!! Love this pictures of my beautiful daughter!!

ARRIVED - Discovering bold and bright colours can work for me!! These Basic Grey Marakech papers became one of my all time favorite paper collections, but at first glance I wasn't a fan at all.

PARIS - Trying something totally diffirent AND LOVING the end result!! This is so not my usual style, but I'm so happy with this one.

RAINBOOTS FULL OF RAIN!! - This is a favorite because of the fun and quirky feeling of this layout. If I look at this one, I get a smile on my face. It reminds me of a fun-filled family day!

NOT PERFECT BUT BLESSED - For no particular reason this one is on my list!

US- One of my favorite pics of H & me.

SNOW BEAUTIFUL - I don't often scrap with red, I find the colour to intimidating. But I love the red here!

100% GIRL - I love the design of this layout. Not to girly or to grown-up for these gorgeous pics of Monique!

VENICE - At first glance I fell in love with this beautiful & romantic city. My hubby promised to take me back someday! I tried to convey the romance of Venice with this one!

Please remember the check the main page over at Let's Scrap on Friday for the start of this GREAT EVENT!!!

See you soon!!

Happy (not so new) New Year!!!

First of all, Happy 2011 everyone!!! I know it's already the 10th of January, but we've only got home on Saturday, very late & very tired! Spending 23 hours in airports & on airplanes are NO FUN AT ALL!!! Then I had to sort out the suitcases and the laundry, do a grocery run and get the kids ready for school. Busy, busy, busy!

I hope everyone of you had a wonderful time with family & friends over the holidays. I sure did!! Spending time with H and my sisters definitly helped to recharge my batteries!! I'm already missing the wonderful South African weather since we landed in a snow covered & very cold Seoul!

Did any of you make new years resolutions?? I don't make them, but by the end of last year I read this article on Ali Edward's blog, and decided to choose a word that would inspire me in living my life as a better example for my children and myself.

I knew instantly when I saw the word, that this would be the one for 2011!! But I had a hard time explaining it in my own words. So yesterday while I was reading some of my favorite blogs, I stumbled on this over at Stephanie Howell's blog!

do it all with word of 2011.

"I resolve to handle pressure with grace.
To weather this year’s deployments with grace
and with a smile on my face. To model grace to my girls.

Grace is moral strength. Elegance. Kindness.
Gods grace is the influence or spirit of
God operating in humans to regenerate or strengthen them.

I may have not been blessed with physical grace,
but I sure can choose to exhibit it in my character.

This year I will be kind.
I will say thank you and look people in the eye.
I will smile at others when they cross my paths.
I will not let the fact that I am having a bad day change the way I treat people.

Happiness is my responsibility."

Everything I was thinking and feeling, Stephanie put into words!! She is such a brilliant blogger, if you are not a reader, I strongly suggest that you check out this girls blog! She is a true inspiration to me!!

My resolve for 2011 is to live with GRACE! And I know that by God's Grace, everything is possible!

Some very exciting scapbooking news from Let's Scrap is the start of THIS:

It's a blog hop all about new years resolutions!! This is going to be so much fun, I really can't wait for it to start on Friday! I'll be hosting one of the fun challenges here on my blog with a gorgeous little RAK to give away!! I really, really, really hope you'll join us!! I know everyone is stress for time at the beginning of a new year, but for this blog hop you'll have a whole month to do the challenges!! Loads of time to finish AND to stand a change to win a wonderful GRAND PRIZE at the end!!

I'll be back tomorrow with some of the December 2010 Let's Scrap sketches and my layouts!!

See you tomorrow . . . Happy Monday!!
