I can't believe she's 18!!

Yesterday was a day with such mixed emotions for me. My little girl grew up on me, and I'm not even sure when it happened!! My (not so) little girl turned 18!!

I wanted to make sure she had a wonderful day even though her Daddy wasn't here to share this special day with her! I'm so thankful for technology which made it possible for him to Skype her bright & early to wish her a wonderful birthday!

I made her favorite for breakfast - pancakes!!

and then it was time for presents.

A kiss from Ruan . . .

And one last picture for me before leaving for school!

Okay . . . On to scrappy news!
Today the new sketch at Let's Scrap is up, and this week it's one of Kimmy's card sketches. This one is from a quilt pattern and at first I threw me for a loop! Then I decided not to stress about it and VOILA! . . . The card actually came together very quickly and I LIKE it!!
Here is Kimmy's sketch:
And my card,

I'm trying to work on a couple of other projects as well, but I have to tell you, I'm struggeling a bit. It seems like my mojo is taking a vacation! I HATE everything even before I started! I'm thinking about taking a little break from scrappin' . . .

Thanks for stopping by! I'm thinking about having a little blog candy when my blog gets to 500 on the blog count! PLEASE leave me a little something at the comments, I would love to get to know YOU!

Have a wonderful & blessed week ahead!

Appreciating the beauty of FALL!!

It's an explosion of reds, yellows and oranges when you look out of our apartment windows!! And it's gorgeous!! Where we lived in South Africa, when fall arrived the leaves turned brown, and that was it! Now we are blessed to experience this wonderful colours all around us! The children and I went to Yeouido Park yesterday and took same pics of the beauty all around us! Let me share a few pics with you! This is what Yeoudo Park looked like in summertime from my windows.

And this is what the park looks like today!

Isn't is spectacular???? I can't get enough looking at it!! Here is a few pics we took yesterday while walking in the park.

This is in the courtyard of the apartment complex where we live.

Just GORGEOUS!!

No scrapping goodies to share! I definitely want to do a few layouts today . . . can't wait to get started. I so want to do fall layouts with these photo's!

Wishing you all a wonderful and blessed week ahead!!

All things bRiGhT & bEaUtIfUl!!

Happy Saturday!! I quickly wanted to share a layout I did for a challenge at Scrap Whispers. Funny story to tell about this layout. I actually did it for one of their October challenges were you had to use any or all of the following word, Dream, Journey or Wish. I did the layout but was to late in submitting the layout to their site. Luckily for me, it fits the criteria for challenge 81!

For challenge 81 you need to create a card or layout using bright colours! Simple, fun and sure to brighten your dark Autumn day too! Easy peasy!! So here is my layout:

Some more vacation pics ~ I'm getting alot of scrapbooking mileage out of a 5 day vacation!!!

And a close-up of the beautiful butterfly I've cut from the patterned paper and used some pop-dots to add some dimension to it! I've also went crazy with the sewing machine on this one!

At the home front everything is quite today after all the hustle & bustle to get H ready to leave. I'm sure going to miss him BIG TIME! The up-side to this is, I'll have LOADS of scrappin' time!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

This weeks Let's Scrap sketch!

Cheri has just posted this weeks sketch at Let's Scrap, and it's a YuMmY one!! Sadly my term as DT member is over, but I'm staying on as contributing DT ~ YEAH!!! So this will also be the time to check out the new DT members take on the sketch. With no further ado, here's that yummy sketch.

I'm still working on the many, many pictures we've taken on our Italy vacation, and I thought this sketch would work beautifully for the pics of the old castle. But I wanted to add more pics than just the ones on the sketch. Cheri has this great tutorial on how to add a fold-out page to your layout which allow you extra space for pics, and that what I did. You can check out the tutorial on the fold-out technique here.
Here is my layout of Castello Sforzesco in Milan, Italy.

My layout

Left page ~ I love how it turned out!

Right page

Right page with the fold-out which add 6 extra pictures to my layout!

A close-up of the little booklet with the history of the castle.

I love this gorgeous wooden buttons I found at a local korean craft store!

I didn't do much more scrapbooking this week since I'm trying to spent as much time with H before he's leaving on Saturday. He's going on a business trip for a loooooooonnnnggg time. We'll meet up in South Africa in December and then we'll only see one another again in March/April 2011!! Lots of detail still need to be sorted before Saturday. The upside of this is that I will have loads of scrappin' time once he's left. Scrapping will be like therapy to keep me from missing my hubby to much!!

Because of H leaving, we had some wonderful family time this weekend. We went to a local ice gallery, and oh boy, was that fun!! Cold but fun!

Fun on the slide!

Inside the igloo.

Monique bundled up against the cold!

Holding up the Tower of Pissa.

A daddy/daughter pose.

Hard at work to create our own masterpieces!

And we have a "winner"!!

From the ice gallery we went to Namsan Tower. Namsan Tower sits on Namsan mountain and is surrounded by a beautiful park. We opted to take the cable car up the mountain, instead of walking.

Waiting in line for our ride up the mountain.

Beautiful view over the Han river from the observation deck.

Looking over Seoul ~ just beautiful!

Being silly!

Namsan Tower.

On our way down!

Happy Wednesday!!
