Monsoon season in Seoul

We've been having rain here in Seoul for the past 3 days.

On Sunday morning we decided to walk down to the Han river, which is about 800m from our apartment. Since it was still raining we took our umbrellas for a little stroll to the river. We were like children playing, laughing and walking in the rain!!

We were so surprised to see just how full the river was. Some of the walkways is already under water, the little pools where the children normally play is also full of water. It was scary to see how the always busy waterfront was very quiet.

Ruan slipped and fall in the water which obviously had us in stitches!!

And then we went to find something to warm to drink since we were all very wet!!

And some more fun on the way home!

Here is a picture of the current water level at the river.

The weather forecast for the next few days is for lots & lots of rain! I'll keep you posted!!
On the scrappy front I have nothing for you. I thought I would have some time to scrap, but my children invaded the dining room table, so no space for mommy to work on. Hopefully I'll have something scrappy for you tomorrow! Have a wonderful day and a blessed week!!

Wonderful sketch for 20+ photos!!

I quickly wanted to share with you this weeks WONDERFUL sketch from "Let's Scrap"! Cheri has created this sketch with room for lots and lots and lots of picture . . . and I totally LOVE it!! Here is the sketch:

You can use the sketch just as you see it on, or you can add the fold-out. A fold-out is a wonderful idea when creating a layout with lots of pictures. Here is a tutorial which Cheri has created on how to make a fold-out. For my layout I decided not to do the fold-out and I went all girly!! Here is my layout:

Getting into holiday mood!!

After standing in a queue for 3 hours at the Italian Embassy here in Seoul to apply for our visas, we are getting very excited about our little vacation in 2 weeks time! We will be going to Italy, Milan in particular and South Africa for a short vacation. We will only spend 5 days in Milan and we have planned day trips to Venice and Lake Como. From Italy we will be going home - to South Africa - for a week, before we return once again to Seoul. The children will miss a little bit of school, which is always unfortunate, especially for Monique, who has always so much work that she needs to catch up with.
So today I decided to make a travel journal for our vacation. Along with taking pictures of our vacation, having a journal is a great way to preserve our memories. It's also a great way to remember all the little details until you are back home and start your vacation scrapbook. Your travel journal can also be very handy to store small memorabilia of the trip, like boarding passes, ticket stubs and receipts. I buy a spiral bound book (then I have a place to store my pen or pencil) with a good cover for altering. Here is the travel journal that I created today!

I decide to add the scallop tag to create a name tag, but also for the tag to be used as a bookmark. I recently learned how to do circle text on a great tutorial over at "Let's Scrap". Here is a close-up of the tag.

Remember today a new sketch will be available at "Let's Scrap". Go check it out and see the gorgeous layouts the DT members came up with!

Have a wonderful & blessed day!!

This week's "Let's Scrap"-sketch!

This week is card week over at "Let's Scrap". I'm still trying to find my feet around the card-making, but Kimmy assures us it's just like scrapbooking only smaller! It's the smaller space that I have a problem with. But I'll keep on trying and maybe someday, I'll love making card AND be good at it!! So without any further waiting here is Kimmy's sketch:

I found this to be a very versatile sketch, that can be interpreted a lot of ways. At first I really was at a loss at what to do with the sketch and then I came up with first this card:

I've used some Hot off the Press papers (from their Busy Scrapper's Solution Boys: Baby's & Toddler range. The big brads are also from Hot off the Press. When making this card I thought about a friend of mine in Saudi who's having a precious baby boy in November.
The second card is a scraplift from Patter Cross's Blog. I just love Patter's work and her blog so much. Not just because of what she makes as a scrapbooker but also for what she stands for. I truly enjoy her Scripture Challenges! Thank you Patter for being such an inspiration to me!! Here is the card I made:

Go and check out the wonderful cards the "Let's Scrap" DT's have come up with. I totally love Karien's beautiful Christmas card. You gals ROCK!!

Did you girls see Echo Park's brand new Christmas Paper collections??? WOW, WOW & WOW!!! The "Merry Christmas" collection immidiately caught my eye and I went looking to see if it's already available at ACOT but it seems I'll have to wait a little bit. Here is a picture of the "Merry Christmas" collection:

And the equally beautiful "Everybody Loves Christmas" collection:

I would love to hear what you girls thing about these wonderful paper collections. Feel free to leave me a comment!

Hope you all have a wonderful & blessed weekend!!

New Goodies!!!

I've just looked at the calendar and realized it's already been a week since my last post, and I have to ask myself . . . Where did the time go?? It seems I'm having a hard time to find my normal routine after the summer holiday. I've also been frustrating myself when scrapbooking. Nothing seems to work for me, and I know it's because I'm so very cricital of myself. Sometimes I really am my worst enemy!!!

On Tuesday the Fed-Ex man dropped me a little visit with some fabulous scrappy supplies. I really drooled over all the beautiful papers!! (Hi, my name is Roulien, and I'm a paper addict!!!) Here is some of my favorites that arrived:

BO BUNNY: I totally love Bo Bunny!!
Block Party:

Jazmyne:

Petal Pusher:

And the last one from Bo Bunny is Olivia:

And then there were this BEAUTIFUL collection papers!! I fell in love with it instantly and can't wait to scrap with it. It's the Vintage Blue collection from We Are Memory Keepers . . . and I love it!!

Okay, this is just a few of my new goodies that I really love!! Tomorrow I'll be back with the newest Let's Scrap sketch and challenge.

See you soon!

Back to NORMAL - I hope!!

Summer break has come and gone, the children went back to school on Tuesday, the house is cleaned and the laundry is up-to-date! I think we can go back to our normal routine now! And I want to scrap . . . badly!! I've done a couple of layouts in the week, but now I really, really want to get back to it, and do something spectacular (I wish!!), or I'll even settle for something wonderful.

I'm totally loving doing the DT work for "Let's Scrap"! Since it's my first DT, it's still a learning experience for me, but I'm having so much fun!! Let me show you this weeks sketch at Let's Scrap:

I used some pictures of our vacation last year to the Maldives for my layout:

I used the Summertime papers from Echo Park, which is a newbie company, but they are coming out with a collection every month, which I think is so clever!! I have a order in for their Life is good collection as well! I'm totally loving their stuff.

This week's Let's Scrap challenge is to create a layout by using a timeline. First I was totally stumped by this idea, and then I had a few ideas, one I totally love. I have created 2 layout using different timelines for the challenge. The first layout is 2 pictures that was taken 4 years apart at the same place in South Africa. The first picture was taken in 2004 at a Lion Park near Sun City. It was the childrens first experience feeding little baby cubs. They totally LOVED it. The small child in me also loved the experience. We were able to go back in 2008 and had the same experience. How awesome is that!! Here is the layout:

The 2nd layout didn't turned out exactly how I planned it, but I still love it. It's a family picture and I listed the dates of each of our birthdays and when Herman and I met and got married on a Tim Holtz measuring tape for the timeline.
Sorry about the long post! On my next post I want to share with you some of the gorgeous new products from a few of my favorite scrapbooking companies. See you soon!
