Lots of scrappin' goodies to share!

Here in our little corner of the world the weather very suddenly turned COLD! It seems like Tuesday was autumn and Wednesday winter arrived with a bang! Winter coats (which we don't have since we arrived here from the desert!!), scarves and gloves is the things to wear in Seoul! Some serious shopping is waiting for me! Big frustration that is, since the sizes are so tiny, it's a real struggle for me to find clothes!! My husband is also leaving next week for some business trips which will keep him away from home for the next FOUR MONTHS!! I just hate it when he has to go away for so long. Luckily we will meet up in South Africa for the Christmas Holidays. Can't wait for that . . . family, friends, celebrations and the wonderful summer weather we will be having!!

There is a challenge over at Cookbookin Blog with one of Cheri's sketches. I've never done a layout with food pics and a recipe, so this was quite a challenge for me. Also not many supplies to play with, and since running out to a store and buy is not an option, I had to make due with what I have. Here is Cheri's sketch and my layout:

Chocolate cake is such a favorite in our home, and since I was making one as a treat for the children I took some pics. Papers are from Bo Bunny. I used some kitchen quotes I found online and used my computer to do the circle text.

This was a real fun project, and one I intent on doing again real soon!!

This weeks sketch at Let's Scrap will be a favorite of mine, because of its versatility!

Cheri has created the sketch to have a pocket to hold CD's. It can be CD with pics (example a year of pics of your child, school pics, vacation pics, etc) or even a a music CD. I'm planning a layout for Monique and the CD will have her favorite songs for 2010 on it. On the layout I did for my DT work at Let's Scrap I don't plan on using a CD for the pocket. Since the theme of the layout is a little bit more romantic I've written a letter to my husband, which is more private. I'm using the pocket to store the letter, and some more memorobilia from our Italy vacation.

This really is a FUN sketch to work with. I really hope you'll be playing along with us!!

Still staying at Let's Scrap Karien has a challenge running till tonight. I LOVED doing this one, since once again I've never done it before! The challenge was to create a shaped card, and Karien's examples is simply gorgeous!! You can check it out here. After searching the internet for some inspiration, I found some svg cutting files for my Cricut. Then the fun began. First I made this very cute little purse card, which will be excellent for a birthday invitations for a girls party, or even a gift card. Here is my cute little card:

Papers from Basic Grey, flowers is old ones I have in my stash from Bo Bunny. The M in the left hand corner is the first letter of her name, just to personalize it!
I love putting the card together. I've already given it to my husband secretary, thanking her for all the help she's given us with living arrangements here in Seoul.
The other card is a Christmas card which also came out nicely. This one came together quick and easy.

Papers from Kaizer craft and the Noel brad from Hot off the Press.

I'm planning a little bit of scrapping today and tomorrow. We have a "long-weekend" since there is no school tomorrow due to parent-teacher conferences.

Sending rubber hugs your way!

Mini album to share!

I had time last night to quickly finish the mini album I told you about in yesterdays post. I really LOVE how it turned out, and I know it will be something I will take many, many times when I miss my sister so terribly much. But that later.

We are very fortunate to be staying right across from Yeouido Park here in Seoul. It really is a place were you can just relax. Beautiful garden, lots of space for people to move around and the children to play and ride their bikes. The park is also full of activities over weekends. This past weekend was no exception. I'm not quiete sure what it's called since all the signs is in Korean. People from every age group were dressed in colourful outfits with even more colourful headgear. They were playing various music instruments like drums, tamborines and flutes. We had such a fun time watching them and enjoying the shows they have put of for us. Here is a video of one of the groups. It never seize to amaze me how they use their hands, feet and heads together and still be able to play the music instruments. Have a look!!! I wanted to share a video with you, but I'm having a hard time to upload it, so here's some pictures!

They are quite amazing!!! I would love to share more of this with you but it takes FOREVER to upload videos.

Okay, so let's move on to scrappy things. I wanted to create a mini album celebrating sisters. Since the month of August is breast cancer awareness month, I wanted to celebrate the special sister I have. I used some of the pictures we took when 2 of my sisters were visiting here in July. Bo Bunny was my choice for paper and I choose the beautiful Jazmyne line, because they had some sticker elements with sister saying which I loved! Take a look with me . . .

I'm going to be brave and post this at Bo Bunny's Facebook page as well!

I'm very glad to be saying on at Let's Scrap as a contributing DT member. It's such a fun and talented group of ladies to be around, and I can't wait to get to know the new DT's as well.

I'm looking into buying an embossing machine, but I'm not quite sure which one will be best. If any of you have any comments or suggestions, I would love for you to share it with me. I really would love to hear your thoughts on whats out there.

Have a fabulous Tuesday everyone!!!

Scrappy news!

First off, let me start with an apology!! I'm sorry for not posting nearly enough, and sharing all the lovely sketches from Let's Scrap. Life here in our corner of the world is just very uncertain at this stage, and everyone who knows me well, knows that I don't handle uncertainty very well. I'm one of those people who crawl under a rock and waits for certainty to arrives!! I really do want to try and share more with you, but I don't want to post when I have the blues . . . don't want to send you all running for the hills!! So please bear with me for just a little bit longer. HOPEFULLY all will be settled soon, and I can go back to "normal"!!

But let me share some scrappy stuff with you! This week at Let's Scrap Cheri has this beautiful sketch, which I think is so versatile and really easy to work with.

I used some of our Italy vacation pictures to create a layout from this sketch. Here is my take:

We simply loved exploring Bellagio. It's one of the many villages that's right at the edge of Lake Como. From Milan it took as about 1 and a half hour bus ride to get to Como, from where we boarded a ferry. We had a spectacular view of the lake and all the surrounding villages until we arrived at Bellagio. It was just an amazing day with so much to see.

For the layout I used papers from K & Company, Cardstock - Bazzill
Title & banner cut with Cricut & SCAL using Heather font.

Over the weekend I also made 2 layouts for challenges at Sketchs4all.
It's a site I only recently discovered so I'm still trying to find my feed around there. For the first challenge you had to use a sketch that was given to you. Here is the sketch and my take:

I used Bo Bunny's Block party collection papers for this layout. I changed the picture to black & white because it such a lovely picture of Ruan, and I sooooo wanted to scrap him. For the little frame to the left hand side of the picture I used a chipboard piece, inked it dark brown to suit my colours, and I used some rub ons for the "You make me smile" . . . which he does!!!! I loved how this turned out!! The next challenge was also a sketch challenge.

This is such a odd picture of my husband, but I LOVE the picture, I can't explain why, I just do! Once again I pulled out my Bo Bunny paper, this time Jazmyne line. I has such rich colours!!

I'm also in the final stages of creating a beautiful mini album, using a acrylic album from Maya Road. Once finished I'll share all the goodness with you!

Wishing you all a wonderful & blessed week ahead!!
